It appears the rumours are true afterall – John Frusciante has left Red Hot Chili Peppers. In an open letter to his fans, Frusciante clarified that he has left the a year ago while they were on an indefinite hiatus and they parted on good terms. See It appears that Frusciante will be replaced by Josh Klinghoffer who previously toured with the band for the Stadium Arcadium tour as a 2nd guitarist and has collaborated with Frusciante’s solo albums previously. This is not the first time Frusciante has left the band though. In 1992, he infamously left the band finding it hard to cope with the band’s success following the release of the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik , and subsequently faded away due to his drug addiction. However, he rose like a phoenix from the ashes, as he rejoined the band and staged a triumphant comeback with the band in 1999 with Californication . The band last played in Singapore in 2004 – and i’m still kicking myself for giving that gig a miss. What remains is to see how the band will carry on with a follow up to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium without Frusciante…. Plainsunset to launch new album "Collabor-8"by roadburn on 17 Dec 2009
Album Launch Concert in Conjunction with Late Nite at Esplanade “Collabor-8” will launch on December 18, 930pm in conjunction with Esplanade’s Late Nite at Esplanade concert series. Having made some good friends over their 13 years as a band, the concert will feature PLAINSUNSET playing live with friends such as Sheikh Haikel, Amanda Ling (ex-Electrico), DJ duo Dubwise and more. Expect a crazy rock party, as it normally is with any PLAINSUNSET show but this time with a slight twist on new songs meshed up with the different styles that each guest artist represents. “Jack & Rai have lent their support to the HIV/AIDS cause by dedicating a special commemorative song, “Pixelated”. The song carries the message that in a world of abundant information, ignorance and misconceptions about HIV still abound. Too many people are unaware of the ways to prevent HIV infections, its modes of transmission and its myths + misconceptions. What’s worse is that many young people out there have a cavalier and indifferent attitude to the issue. There is a prevailing thought that “it won’t happen to me”. The song therefore urges us to make the choice to see HIV as it is – with clarity and understanding, not through pixelated eyes." Audioreload is giving away 10 copies of this Jack and Rai’s limited edition single! Want some? Just email contest@audioreload.com with the following details: Want more? What are you guys up to this weekend? For me, I’ll be participating in the International Day of Climate Action (Saturday, October 24th). Basically, it’s a day for the global community to get together and show their commitment to doing their bit for the environment. This day comes six weeks before the UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen; by taking a stand and making ourselves heard we can be part of the grassroots action that might help influence the people at the top to make the right decisions for the world, too. If you’d like to participate, or to simply to find out more about it, head on to the 350.org website where you can also search for activities happening near you this Saturday! I’ve always been a firm believer of the power of music as a medium for social change, and I wanted to share this letter from 350.org and Rock ’n Renew, encouraging all you musicians out there to translate your passion into action, and to use your music to spread the word and do your bit to help save the world! |
